Traditional Macedonian wedding celebrations at Galicnik! A weekend to remember!

10th and 11th July 2010 – Fantastic weekend time in the village of Galicnik.
Gathering all the trainees, alumnus and members of IAESTE was our primary mission, and making the best weekend for the guests was our easiest work to do. This was amazing and enjoyable weekend and one of the most interesting during this Summer reception.

It was an event that commemorates the traditional wedding customs and pays attention to the Macedonian culture. The bride and the groom were adorned in the beautiful Galicnik folk costumes, famous for being one of the most beautifully ornamented, as compared with other folk costumes in Macedonia. The wedding took place in the village church of St. Peter and Paul. There you could listen the traditional songs, see the folk dances “Teshkoto” and “Nevestinsko”, taste the best Galicnik cheese and feel the IAESTE spirit. The Majovci musicians performed the traditional music of the Galicnik region, and as the many years before they fascinated all the guests. The ethno group “Ljubojna” impressed all the guests and inspirited all the IAESTE people to dance Macedonian dances in the centre of the village.

The party with the members of “Red Cross Macedonia” was unforgettable and a few hours of sleeping in the tents in the beautiful nature were enough to rest for the Sunday ceremony. This trip was supported by our friends “Zito Luks”, “Sedmica”, “Skovin”, “Dobra voda”, “Palma”, “Fructal”, “Malaga” and “Jaffa”.

And the weekend finished with a Spanish fiesta and celebrating the new World Cup Champion.

¡Enhorabuena España!
