History

In 1952, the University of Belgrade joins IAESTE as the 16th member in the association. Soon after, the Yugoslavian committee in that time opens Local committees in Zagreb, Ljubljana and Skopje. Since the founding until the breakup of Yugoslavia, all the administrative work was done in Belgrade and around 200 students from the University of “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” Skopje had the chance to travel the world and have practical experience in large or small companies trough the IAESTE program.

After the Breakup of Yugoslavia, in January 1992, the students from LC Skopje in that time form a new association registered in Macedonia with the aim of continuing to put the IAESTE program into practice. The Association gets the name “Macedonian association for international exchange of students from technical faculties” with an office in Skopje at the Electro-technical and Mechanical faculty. In this structure it joins the IAESTE as an associate member.

In 1994, at the General Conference in Mexico, IAESTE Macedonia gains the status of a full member. Since then, 4 Local committees are opened at 4 state Universities: "Ss Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje, "Ss Kliment Ohridski" in Bitola, "Goce Delchev" in Shtp and the University for Information Science and Technology in Ohrid. Around 500 students from this committees went on internship abroad since 1992 and around 100 Macedonian companies were included in the IAESTE program.
